Montana sapphires or Yogo sapphires were discovered accidentally by Jack Hoover, a gold prospector in 1895. These stones are known for their wonderful brilliant steely blue hue. It is known in the jewelry industry that Tiffany & Co. bought the Yogo mine and went on to produce some of the finest sapphire jewelry.
