A beautifully preserved antique engagement ring from the Victorian era centered on a 1.02 carat old European cut diamond, set in yellow gold with richly detailed Gothic Revival shoulders. Each shoulder is engraved with a pair of clasped hands beneath a trefoil motif, framed by delicate beaded borders. The crown setting elevates the diamond. During the Victorian era, jewelry often carried layers of symbolic meaning. The clasped hands, known as the fede motif, represented trust, fidelity, and the joining of two lives in marriage, while the trefoil symbolized enduring love and faith.
