Jewelry Care Guide
Cleaning
Erstwhile offers free cleanings for rings purchased from us. Reach out to schedule a cleaning session. At home, use mild dish soap, warm water, and a soft toothbrush or a dry, soft cloth to clean your ring. Refrain from cleaning over an open drain to prevent accidental loss.
Maintenance
Reach out to us for any maintenance needs. Cleanings are an excellent opportunity for a structural assessment. Keep your prongs in check and make certain they're secure. We ensure our skilled jewelers will handle your ring with care. Some maintenance will be complementary and we always offer maintenance at the most minimal cost to you possible. If another jeweler performs any maintenance on the ring, our warranty will be voided.
Vintage rings like Georgian and Victorian era pieces often carry a desirable natural patina. Avoid excessive cleaning to preserve this patina. Delicate prongs or filigree should be treated with extra care. Remember, your vintage ring has endured the test of time; treat it with respect, love, and occasional professional care to maintain its beauty and character.
Know Your Ring
Regularly inspect your vintage ring for any signs of wear, loose stones, or damage.
Gently tap it near your ear to listen for any rattling sounds, which might indicate loose stones.
Wearing Habits
Remove your vintage ring before engaging in activities that could expose it to friction, impact, or chemicals. Keep a designated safe spot to place your ring when doing housework or engaging in physical activities
